This 19′ foot diameter spherical dome – The Fireball – was one of the most unusual design challenges for the CST Team. The standard multi-segmented 2-frequency dome geometry was modified into a spherical form – the struts and cap strip were roll-formed and the acrylic panels were drawn over this spherical form.

The panels were then cut into triangular forms to create a near perfect sphere. The acrylic panels were sandblasted for the diffusion effect needed for the red laser light inside the dome – it creates a red fireball effect – a very exciting form. The aluminum has a bronze finish. The dome is the center attraction at the enormous Lotte World Center in Seoul, Korea.
